JKO: [00:00:00] Welcome to this episode of Messy Can't Stop Her. I'm your host Judith Kambia Obatusa, J. K.O. As we continue praying over ourselves with God's Word, Becca Rae Eagle is joining us today. She is a podcast host and she also has an entire course around journaling, how journaling can help you. And those are things she's going to talk about a little bit. And I also put links to her work in the show notes so that you can follow her and continue being blessed by her work. So, thank you so much, Becca, for being here today. Very grateful to have you.

Becca Rae Eagle: It's wonderful to spend time together, Judith. [00:01:00]

JKO: Yeah. I'm just going to start by asking you, what's your inspiration for the Sacred Penning Podcast?

Becca Rae Eagle: My inspiration is the fact that when we spend quiet time with prayer and prayer, then relaxing our body and our mind to receive from the Holy Spirit, we spent some genuine time in self care, allowing God to care for us and what we receive by thinking about in meditating as David did on the word of the Lord by meditating on that as we journal is we receive instruction and calm and peace and guidance from the Holy Spirit. And I believe that everybody all across the world right now needs to have that quiet [00:02:00] time for a number of years. Now, the Lord has given me a Word. That keeps popping up, so I don't find it a coincidence when I received the same instruction over and over and this year I finally listened and thought.

If I'm receiving this word and it's been beneficial to my health, to my mental health, to my physical health, to restoring and renewing my strength with God, I, I just know that it could help other people. And the word that I've received is Isaiah 30, 15 in returning to rest, you shall be saved in quiet and still.

Is your strength and the instructions after our, when we don't listen to those instructions, everything falls down [00:03:00] and we don't want to make the same mistakes that we've been instructed for generations after generations is being quiet, returning to stillness, resting in the Lord. As the victory versus trying to do this from our own strength. And I find that strength in journaling. And so I offer that up to people each week with some Bible passages and some quiet, relaxing music where we breathe and kind of relax. And then we see where God takes us at the tip of our pen in a journal. It's been a great way to bookend my day. I start the day with digging into God's promises.

And I end the day by expressing gratitude to God for the day that he's given me and showing appreciation and praise. So, it's, it's a daily cycle for me. It's. Just part of my life and I believe even if people put half the time that I do into my sacred penny cycle that they could [00:04:00] definitely return to rest in some way that will not only serve them, but other people for what God has for us, because it's such a busy, crazy world. We need to slow down and rest in him. He's instructed us. He's commanded us, and it's time to listen.

JKO: Thank you so much, Becca. The best that we had on the podcast. When she wanted to start praying, she said, close your eyes, take a deep breath, inhale and exhale. And when you talk about the sacred penning process, I kind of feel that it's that same way of beginning. And when we talk about prayer, it's a moment in time when we stop every other thing to have this interaction with one that is bigger than us, great and mighty one. And I feel that the sacred penning [00:05:00] process is actually a way to pray, which includes journaling.

Becca Rae Eagle: It is. Yes. And because we can document and have A testimony with our journals, it's a great way to look back and say, well, you were scared on that day. Look what God did. You were all flustered on that day. Look what God did. You needed something. Look what God provided and journal after journal after journal. It's a testimony to what Jesus has done in my life. And I never have a question for how I can bear witness for what he's done. I always have an answer to anybody who has a question because I want to point to him and by documenting and receiving, it's calming [00:06:00] me, but it's also strengthening me and my ability to have conversations with others about, do you know this Lord Jesus, because he's willing to do the same thing for you. He loves you so much too.

JKO: My ladies, as we listened to this episode, Becca is going to pray over us in a moment. Well, you can also continue this journey into the depths of an intimate relationship with one who is available at all times, help you to be with you.

Even those who love you the most cannot be with you at all times, but this one can be with you at all times. And so Becca has a retreat coming up later in the summer, sacred penning retreat, and you're going to be able to experience what she [00:07:00] described. So, we want, I would love for you to sign up to support yourself, to help yourself because the truth is that's what we go through as women.

So many of us have to deal with so much and to get through it, we need something beyond ourselves. So, can you speak a little bit about that retreat?

Becca Rae Eagle: Sure. Toward the end of the retreat in the United States, people are getting ready to go back to school. And for a lot of parents, a lot of moms, That's a very stressful time. We are entering a new season. That's not really in alignment with the calendar but aligned with our school systems. So, it's a retreat that's called back to school, back to you, because in essence, I want moms to return to themselves [00:08:00] and to return to handing over anything that is stressful in that transition to the Lord so that they can feel equipped versus stripped of their power.

JKO: For those who are not able to attend any of your retreats, is there a place where they can get maybe old replays or something on your website?

Becca Rae Eagle: There is I have a retreat that's releasing. July 21st, and that is a pre recorded retreat that you can have the audio. You can see the slides. You can go through all the activities and there's also a very small workbook that goes with it. And that releases on the 21st of July. So, just so that people have a taste of what we do live and in person when I'm live and in person, I have a Christian breath worker who's [00:09:00] with us. So she leads. Our bodies through some relaxation and also has some prayerful Christian music to accompany how we are relaxing before we start our journaling. So she's a part of the live retreats every time and I specifically chose a Christian woman because I know the Holy Spirit is working with her and I trust her. And I know she's a woman of prayer and faith. So, I know that anything that she's preparing and praying for is going to come out for my women to help bless them as well.

JKO: There you go. That's, that's an opportunity and I just didn't want to pass up on it. Even though this episode isn't really about promoting any of us. It's just about supporting all of us, empowering us so that we can thrive despite any challenge that we might So Becca, please, we'd like you to Pray over us with God's word at this time and just [00:10:00] those who remain in the trenches who need a refreshment. And for so many women that may be listening, some of them don't even believe in this God., don't believe in all these things you're saying. So, taking that into consideration as you wash us with the water of the blood through his word. The floor is yours,

Becca Rae Eagle: Dear Lord. We thank you for being with us in this room where two or more are gathered there. You are in our midst and in our hearts and across the airwaves, blessing anybody who is choosing to surrender to listen to your name.

And the word that I received for this podcast was one for everyone and one specifically for you. And they kind of go together for all women. And when I pray. I always start in Psalms and Psalm 31, 22 says [00:11:00] in my alarm quote, in my alarm, I said, I am cut off from your sight. You heard my cry for mercy when I call to you for help and quote, we are in such a state of alarm by so many things, Lord, so many different things will get into the hearts and to the minds of women, making them very anxious and making them feel a sense of panic.

A sense of alarm, a sense of fright, a fright in an alarm that only you can handle. But the other part of that promise is that you heard my cry for mercy. I'm not supposed to be afraid when I am in relationship with you. I know that you can do anything on the planet. You can do anything in the universe just at a breath or a word.

But you promised me mercy. You promised to answer my cry. You promised that when I'm an alarm, [00:12:00] you are right here with me helping me. And that is a promise for each woman, no matter what alarm she's feeling. And the Lord knows what rings our bells. He knows what makes some women more upset than others. He knows situations that will cause some people to shake in their boots and some people to just get a little bit frantic.

That's the beautiful part about Jesus, is that he knows how to meet us where we're at, and that was part of the word that I received. The other, as I was reading along and praying was further along in the Psalm and again, in Psalm 31 verse 24, quote, be strong and take heart all you who hope in the Lord. End quote. And that was my word for you, Judith. That was the word that I felt compelled because you are such a woman of strength to me. I look up to you and I know [00:13:00] that you take heart in the Lord. I know that you are a person who truly places. All of your heart within his hands and that, that is where your hope lies.

That's where my hope lies too, because the world is going to cause you alarm. The world is going to cause you so many different shades of pain. And the only one who can handle it, the only one we can truly give it over to who can handle it, who died for us so that we wouldn't have these alarms and these stressors is, is Christ. That's his gift to us. And thank God for the Holy Spirit that is here, thanks to the hope and the faith that we have in what he did for us, such a magnificent gift to any who just simply say, I'm willing to explore that this is true, that this is the hope that [00:14:00] we have been waiting for. And it's a savior for all time within my heart, within my sister's heart, within anyone down the road. This is a savior for all time. And boy, these times are scary. Personally, worldwide. The news is a scary place, but God knows the news. God has his hand on our news and our families and every family on this planet and anything from a mom holding a baby who won't stop crying for four hours to a mama who's worried about her daughter or her son making choices that are going to have terrible, terrible consequences. Though she knows she raised them, right? But she knows that if she gives that, that fear, that alarm over to the Lord, that it's all going to be okay. She can't be there with her babies, her grown babies, but [00:15:00] God's got those babies too. God's got us. God has got his daughters in the palm of his hand written in the palm of his hand.

I love you, daughter. I'm here for you. I am your hope. I am your mercy. And I see the way that you're alarmed, but I want you to know that this hope, this hope is not going to ever let you down, no matter what happens. So be strong and take heart because I'm here. I feel you, girl. I love you. I have mercy for you.

And I'm here to help you in the most intimate, personal ways. He already knows what you're going to say. He already knows what's on your heart. He already knew what was coming and he knows what's going to happen next, but he's got your hand and he's got you written in his hand this whole time. [00:16:00] And that's what the Holy spirit has been just surrounding me with lately as I see so many people so alarmed and stressed out and starting to fight with one another over what they're seeing and judge one another and oh my goodness, it gets really, really ugly. We are here to be next to each other as sisters in Christ. Not to point fingers at one another. God's going to be the one to take care of anything that needs judgment.

That's his job, but he has held out mercy and forgiveness and anything that we perceive that we do wrong, cause we're going to mess up. He died for those sins. Our sins are as far as the East is from the West, and they're all taken care of. And our daddy's got everything under control. And that's what I've been praying about.

I mean, this particular word that I [00:17:00] received and I've been praying over, I mean, pages and pages, I, I've been praying over these words since the 23rd of June, that's a good couple of weeks ago, but it's still on my heart and it's still in my mind and it's still what I'm bringing to God in my journal every day. Because I want to know how to be strong and take heart in these times. I want to know how to support my sisters who are heartbroken and stressed out. I want to know how to give my sisters a word of encouragement to say, mercy is not for the weak. It's for the strongest who make that decision to lay down their sin and say, I know it's taken care of because not of your judgment, Lord, but as your love, your love is here for us.

So that's what I've been praying for the last couple of weeks as it's the hot days of summer. And some days we feel like we're melting, but the cool, refreshing wind of the Holy Spirit is always there to greet us. Thank you, Lord. We love you. [00:18:00] Jesus. Please bring more onto the cover of your shelter and your peace in Jesus name, Amen.

JKO: Amen. Amen. Thank you so much, Becca. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. You touched on so many things, but at the end of it all, in the middle of it all, the crux of the matter is that we are not alone. God cares about the situation. of our hearts, how the things around us are impacting our thinking patterns, creating anxiety and getting us really worried and flustered and unable to even hope for a better tomorrow.

So, just the knowledge that He is there, aware. I think it's something that if you're listening, you [00:19:00] can rest in that. You might say, why does he let me go through things like this? I'm a good person. I don't do this. I don't do that. No, but even the Bible tells us that even the righteous will have many troubles, but God will deliver him.

[00:21:00] All of it. So it doesn't matter what you're going through in the world. He has overcome the world. So it doesn't matter. It doesn't really matter when the thoughts, those negative voices are telling you that can't you see he doesn't love you. Can't you see you're going through these, the end is going to be bad. I want you to know he is aware

Becca Rae Eagle: in the world you will have trouble, but he's overcome the world. Yes.

JKO: Yes. When you hear that nobody cares about you. It's a lie. When you feel that this is an unending journey of tragedy and pain, it is a lie because he said, though you may have many troubles, you will overcome the situation because he has already overcome it for you.

And when you do this, [00:22:00] Messy won't stop you. Thank you so much for listening. See you next time
